There Are No Stupid Questions

Screw that, yes there are. And, none more stupid than the one Senator Hank Johnson* asked on April first.

If you watched the video, I know what you're going to ask (creepy huh?), and the answer is yes, the Democratic senator from Georgia did honestly ask if the Island of Guam might capsize if we placed too many soldiers on it.

Admiral Robert Willard held a meeting with the House of Armed Services to suggest the U.S. station 8,000 more troops on the small Island of Guam, during which the poor senator asked one of the most awkward and unfortunate questions ever asked.

Despite being.....well pretty wrong about the dimensions of Guam 1, the poor man had no idea the whole room was quivering with uncomfortableness as he held their attention while he stumbled through the abomination of a question.**

The senator stated his fear was based on the dimensions (the ones he came up with) of Guam. He seemed to be afraid that if we stationed more troops, the concentrated weight might cause the island to....tip over and capsize?***

The most uncomfortable part of the whole thing is how ready he was with the question. He had all of the (made up) facts ready off the top of his head, and it seemed like he was just dying to ask his question; it seemed that he, in his mind, was going to be introducing a revolutionary new idea into the equation.

I can only imagine what he felt like moments before birthing the worst question ever birthed. Probably like the scientist in 2012 who runs into a black-tie party looking like a homeless man to tell some generals about Armageddon.

Look at that determination in his eyes....

Some are saying that it was probably just an April Fool's day prank, but I am not as convinced. The video is just too realistic to be something staged....and we know our congress never wastes time with that sort of silliness.

P.S. I know what you're thinking (continue to be amazed by my psychic ability). "Really Rose? Using an article to make some sort of....political statement?" And I just want to tell you to relax. I decided to write this before I even knew what party the senator belonged to. I'd have been just as cruel if he had been a republican....maybe....

*I suppose I could take the opportunity to take a cheap stab at the Democratic party....but why shoot a limping horse?

**Most uncomfortable question since the whole "Monica Lewinsky" investigation

***Most logical science since "An Inconvenient Truth"
